“This is the voice of Colatron, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom…”
Hiya Scott mate, thanks again for debuting this on the show. A big big honour. I hope your listeners enjoy hearing it, as much as I enjoyed producing it. And perfectly pronounced at the beginning mate!
If anyone is interested in deciphering the full transcript of the interupted broadcast (it is a hellishly static filled broadcast from the 70s which I did tidy up a little but can still be a bit noisy at times) check out the full story at

Thanks again Scott; and as me good mate Vrillon would say
“Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again” ;D
See you soon

Hi Andy
Thanks for the exact quote at the start of the mix as I was wondering what it was - you are a mind reader. Cheers for the wiki link - will definitely check that out - I love my sci-fi. It’s an absolute pleasure playing your excellent mix on the show, and I hope you get a decent amount of comments. I must have listened to it now about 15 times, and I never get bored with it.

Scott,
Being an old g listener I’d say this show is an instant classic. Loved the mashes and the remixes in this one. Get This Epic Started was really fun.
One thing I’d love to see in an upcoming show is an interview with the men and women behind the behind the mashes. For instances how does Colatron do his magic? This may be a little “Inside Cricket” but I think it would be a fun addition to your amazing lineup.
Cheers,
James

Hi James
Many thanks for your feedback - much appreciated. Any luck with a promo for your podcast yet? Just a hint - lol. You are not the first person to ask for interviews with mashup producers on the show. Perhaps I should look into that this year? I don’t know how well that would be received, and whether I’d be any good as an interviewer. Oh well, I won’t know unless I give it a go I suppose.

Haha - hi James. How do I do my magic? The secret is, I get pretty darned drunk on red wine and start playing with instrumentals and acapellas at 2am or later. Believe it or not, the amount of alcohol imbibed and the lack of sleep suppress the good sense section of my brain, meaning I am more likely to try the most ridiculous combinations together without fear of them failing!
Of course, this has the downside of meaning I am constantly shattered for work the next day and I probably drink too much caffiene for my own good!
Otherwise, it helps having a 12 CD multi-changer in my car, meaning with the amount of time I spend on the roads, I get to hear a whole host of different stuff. I hear a track, and I whistle another over the top. As simple as that!
Sorry to hijack the comments section Scott, but I could resist revealing a couple of my little secrets!
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy (aka Colatron)
I’m sure will appreciate an insight into how your work on your mashups (as will other listeners) I’m sure. No need to apologise - you can post as many comments as you like, and at whatever length you like. Always feel free - no problem at all.

I was really let down by Colatron - Electronic Voice Phenomena Mix as I expected it to have some kind of EVP from some recordings or something but instead its just a mix of people talking, also what I don’t understand is that a few podcasts ago didn’t you say that you wasn’t going to end with a long mix anymore?
Other than that last mix I enjoyed it fully excellent!!!OMG!!WTF!!!BBQ!!!1111!!!
24 March 2008 at 7:05 pm
Hi Nutronic - sorry you were disappointed with the mix. If I may take a moment to explain though; yes, EVP would have implied there would have been some recordings of voices ‘from the spirit world’ within the mix, perhaps capturing the voices of ghosts or what-not, and I did consider dropping some of these recordings in there, but the meaning of EVP I was trying to convey was all recorded sound on MP3 is in essence, electronic, and with the acapellas of certain songs over the instumentals of other songs, hence the voice phenomena. I was probably being a little too clever for my own good by trying to put mash-ups in the context of “out of place voices” or “electronic voice phenomena”. But at the same time, there is hopefully some amount of spookiness and eerieness contained within the mix there for you. One personal friend has told me that he found the opening of the mix to be “emotional and moving”, and that’s just from hearing the voice of a purported alien!
Please forgive me as I afforded myself a little chuckle when you mentioned its just a mix of people talking - if I had used the truest definition of EVP recordings, then surely that too by definition would have been a mix of ‘people talking’, albeit alledged spirits?
If I may, if you would like an excellent CD resource to investigate EVP, I would recommend you search out a copy of the incredible “The Ghost Orchid” CD (http://parc.web.fm/PARC%20CD1.htm), now unfortunately out of circulation but you may be able to find a copy at eBay or various fortean paraphenalia merchants.
I hope that there was at least one tune in the mix that you enjoyed for the music, but if not, I apologize, and hopefully next time, I can produce something that you enjoy.
Thanks for your feedback,
Andy (aka Colatron)
PS. Sorry again Scott for nicking valuable page space on the comment section!

Hi Scott and Andy, I still enjoyed the podcast and the EVP mix and look forward to any other EVP mixes you do, you could easily carry it on in a part 2 im sure…..Is there anyway you could tell me where you found the radio show part towards the end about Area 51?
Thanks.

Cheers Steve. I’m sure Andy will reply to you in due course.

Hi all,
Yep - the recording in question came from the Art Bell “Coast to Coast AM” show from a few years back. I don’t believe Art does the show anymore, George Noory hosting the show instead, but you can check out the website at http://www.coasttocoastam.com/ and I believe if you register for free, you can listen to old shows and so on. Otherwise, I recommend that you Google “Art Bell recordings” or similar and you will find a whole heap of Art Bell related stuff.
Also useful, is the Wikipedia entry which makes for some interesting reading at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Bell and there are a pretty large collection of show streams at http://www.themaxfiles.info/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=96&Itemid=178
Hope this helps as a starting point to investigate the world of the paranormal a little further Nutronic. If you want to hear one of the spookiest moments in Art Bell history (and which is now widely believed to be a hoax), check out the story and sounds of when a load of miners descended down a pit and supposedly recording the screams of people trapped in hell! Over at http://www.theedgeam.com/topics/hellpage/hell.htm
Best regards,
Andy

Hi all,
Well that was all a bit weird - I’ve just spent 20 minutes typing out a useful response with loadsa links and posted it, and it seems to have disappeared in to the ether. How do you spell…..conspiracy theory? Lol.
Yep - the radio show in question was the excellent Coast to Coast AM radio show broadcast by Art Bell a few years back. It was a great show covering many paranormal topics, but with an obvious slant on the UFO/Alien conspiracy stuff. Unfortunately, Art is now retired now but the show still broadcasts daily by George Noory. The website is over at
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/
and I believe if you sign up for free, you can actually listen to past shows. Otherwise I recommend you Google “Art Bell” or “Art Bell recordings”, etc. you should find a lot of websites that have sample clips or full shows archived. I can’t remember the specific site I got the Area 51 sample from, but I got it this way.
I recommend the Wikipedia entry for Art also, makes some interesting reading and has some useful links at the bottom, over at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Bell
and there is a pretty comprehensive site featuring full streaming shows over at
http://www.themaxfiles.info/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=96&Itemid=178
After a bit of searching, you should be able to find the following recordings which I fully recommend - the show about the guy who rings in claiming to be a worker from Area 51, where as a result of the caller calling in, the satellite broadcasting the show actually went offline for 30 minutes; the infamous show about the miners who recorded the “Sounds of Hell” with humans screaming far below the surface of the earth; and my personal favourite, the story of Dr. Jonathan Reed who’s dog killed an alien in the woods after they come across a ufo (there are pictures!), he took it home to keep in his freezer, but it was still alive! THe sound of the alledged alien will haunt me to the grave!
I hope this helps as a starting point to assist in your research Nutronic, but if you ever need any more info, drop me a line (Scott has my email) and I’d be happy to help out.
All the best,
Andy
